About the Abercrombie Golf Club

Originally built as a nine-hole course on the Cook farm in 1919, Abercrombie has progressed over its Ninty-Three years to become one of Nova Scotia's best tests of golf. In the late sixties the course was expanded to an eighteen-hole layout, incorporating many of the original, more open holes with the newer holes, nestled among Pictou County's beautiful wooded landscape.

C.E. Robinson was the golf courses architect for the late sixty's expansion with additional work undertaken by Graham Cooke and Associates. Most recent renovations have been completed under the direction of R.F. Moote and Associates Ltd. Abercrombie opened a new clubhouse in the spring of 1991 after the original structure was destroyed by fire in April of 1989.

As part of a recent Long Range Plan, the club has completed renovations to a total of six holes, producing dramatic cosmetic and structural facelifts to the existing course. The reconstructed number two hole, a difficult par four, presents a narrow landing area on the new fairway and a second shot over a pond to a large two-tiered green. The par five seventh runs slightly downhill with woods and out of bounds on the right and a new water hazard on the left. Yet the green can be reached in two with two well-placed shots. New cart paths installed in the fall of 2003 make Abercrombie more accessible and enjoyable for members and visitors alike. This fully irrigated, well-groomed golf course offers a challenge to the experienced player, yet is forgiving enough to suit all games.

The Abercrombie Golf Course has played host to many prestigious tournaments in the recent past, on both the provincial and national scenes. The 1989 Canadian Junior Girls Championship and the 1997 Canadian Seniors Championship as well as the 2012 Nova Scotia Junior Championship were hosted at Abercrombie CC. The club has also hosted several charity golf tournaments, most notably the annual Summer Street Scramble and Scott Weeks Celebrity Tournament, which attract many professional sport celebrities who participate for local charities.

Our friendly and efficient staff invite you to come and enjoy a round of golf with us here at Abercrombie - often referred to by first time visitors as “a jewel of a golf course and one of Nova Scotia's best kept golf secrets".
